This, in many ways is an apology. As months have passed without a single post, Yonderblog gathered virtual dust and we had concluded that to be the nail in our blogging coffin. A Miss Haversham-esque veil of neglect has been cast upon these web pages, and for such dishonourable offences we offer our sincere apologies. However, we are delighted to announce that the cobwebs have been cleared and we have pulled back the curtains to shed a new light on Yonderblog. Consider this our resurrection.
So, where have we been all of this time you might ask? What has warranted this virtual hiatus? For months we have been living and traipsing across Australia in the back of our battered, yet hardy, station wagon. A little rough around the edges, it’s fair to say that Freddy (the Ford Falcon) had seen better days. Nonetheless, we instilled in it our blind faith and it soon became our home and reliable companion for the months it took for us to navigate Australia.
For better or worse, life became a little rudimentary for a few months. We’d wake when the sun made its early appearance, follow roads that seemed to have no end and set up camp as night would fall and stars cloaked the sky. Power and Internet connection were precious (not to mention expensive) commodities. In return for enjoying Australia’s vast expanse, we were happy to bypass these luxuries for a short while. As a result, we weren’t able to update Yonderblog as much as we had intended to. Consider our wrists well and truly slapped.
Our time in Australia has come to an end, and Freddy is now in the capable hands of two girls we met somewhere along the East Coast. After months of living in our car, we have aching backs, empty pockets and a lifetime’s worth of memories. If you’re able to forgive us for our negligence, we have thousands of photographs that we’d like to share with you.
Now, where exactly do we begin?
